Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH (FZK)

FZK KIT
Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH is an independent science and research institution in Germany with a staff of about 3500 employees. In the area of technology and the environment, the Centre devotes its attention to research and development work in the interest of the public. It is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the Land Baden-Württemberg and is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centres. Helmholtz Centres perform top-class research in strategic programmes in six core fields: Energy, Earth and Environment, Health, Key Technologies, Structure of Matter, Transport and Space.

The Institute for Materials Research III (IMF III) with more than 70 employees develops and processes materials to mature components. Our research activities extend over areas of fundamental research to the development of marketable products on behalf of industry. Our core competence lies in the materials processing technology for ceramics, metals, and plastics, above all on the micro- and nanoscale.

Development takes place for the moulding of micro- and nanostructured components from plastics, metals, and ceramics. It is focused on the further development of special processes, tool technologies, process simulation as well as on the investigation of the entire process chain.
