
IVF Industrial Research and Development Corporation is the Swedish engineering industry’s research organisation and a subsidiary of the SWEREA-group a conglomerate of Swedish research institutes focusing on manufacturing and materials engineering. IVF is a non-profit organisation with headquarters in Mölndal. IVF’s staff of about 100 skilled and highly educated employees carries out applied research and offer qualified research and consultancy services in five core areas of the industrial manufacturing sector: Product Development, Production Efficiency, Process Optimisation, Electronics and Microsystem Integration and Ceramic Materials. IVF has extensive experience of participating in international projects, as well as of initiating and coordinating them. Many of these projects have also included specific SME-stimulating activities.
The Swedish Ceramic Institute (SCI) has a long history as a separate institute before becoming a department at IVF during 2005. The main thrust of the work at the Swedish Ceramics Institute is on powder processing, forming and sintering of ceramics. The forming methods include gel casting, tape casting and freeform fabrication. Both porous and dense materials are developed in engineering and functional ceramics.
